Arsenal’s Under-18s manager Jack Wilshere is reportedly set to be confirmed as a first-team coach at Norwich City. The 32-year-old will seal his switch to Carrow Road in the next few days, although it won’t be in time for Norwich’s forthcoming Championship match against Stoke City.
However, Wilshere will still be in charge of Arsenal’s Under-18s when they face Aston Villa next and then head to France. He replaces Narcis Pelach, who joined Stoke City as head coach last month.
Arsenal Under-18s manager Jack Wilshere is poised to join Norwich as first-team coach.
The 30-year-old former England midfielder retired as a player in 2022, since which he has managed Arsenal’s youth side. His appointment at Norwich is seen as being a long-term one and there are not expected to be any issues over compensation.
The glittering playing career of Wilshere saw him make 197 appearances, in which he scored 14 goals for Arsenal, while he also won the FA Cup twice. He went on to play for Bournemouth and West Ham, earning 34 caps for England before finishing his career with Danish side Aarhus. In Norwich, he will be reunited with sporting director Ben Knapper, whom he worked with when Knapper was Arsenal’s loans manager.
Norwich are currently seventh in the Championship, having appointed Danish manager Johannes Thorup over the summer.
