Napoli Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has revealed they were not open to letting Victor Osimhen go on loan initially.
Osimhen was meant to move to Premier League club, Chelsea on transfer deadline day, but it did not materialize.
A few days after however, the 25-year-old confirmed a season-long move to Galatasaray the Turkish Super Lig winners.
Manna explained that the Partenopei were essentially ‘forced’ to let Osimhen go to Galatasaray when the offer was received.
“In the beginning, we weren’t open to the loan, something we had discussed with other clubs, but Galatasaray intervened in a moment where, in Italy, the market was closed and we therefore found a solution that was convenient for all the players, and of course we would have preferred to sell Osimhen,” said Manna in an interview to Radio CRC via GOAL.
The winger made his debut for Galatasaray against Caykur Rizespor last week Saturday.
He is thought to also feature in the second game against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce on Saturday.
