A very intriguing Premier League match will be on tap as newly promoted Ipswich Town travels to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Here’s everything that you need to know for the match, including team news, predicted lineups, and our top prediction.
Tottenham vs. Ipswich Match Preview
Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs will try to get back to their winning ways after losing to Galatasaray 3-2 in the Europa League. Before the Europa League defeat, Spurs compiled consecutive victories against Manchester City 2-1 in the Carabao Cup, and Aston Villa 4-1 in the Premier League. They currently lie seventh, only two points behind Chelsea, Arsenal, and Aston Villa, which occupy between fourth to sixth place, while nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.
While Ipswich is in a precarious position in 18th place and has yet to record a league win this season, they have recently reeled off draws in five of the last eight games, including a 1-1 draw against Leicester City following back-to-back losses to West Ham, Everton, and Brentford.
Sunday’s match is a first competitive encounter between the two teams since the 2001-02 Premiership season, during which Ipswich came out on top with identical 2-1 wins at both home and away, only to suffer relegation at the end of the season.
Team News
Ange Postecoglou made sure his squad emerged from the Galatasaray match without new injuries. However, Cristian Romero is still a doubt after only just returning to training. Mikey Moore, as well as Timo Werner probably out as well, will join Micky van de Ven of hamstring, Richarlison of hamstring, and Wilson Odobert of thigh on the sidelines; while Djed Spence is also doubtful.
Ipswich will be without Manchester City loanee Kalvin Phillips following his red card in their draw against Leicester. Harry Clarke returns following his suspension though. Chiedozie Ogbene-achilles, Axel Tuanzebe-hand, Jacob Greaves-thigh, Jack Taylor-unspecified, and Janoi Donacien-ankle are all out with various injuries.
