Preview: Osasuna vs. Real Betis - prediction, team news, lineups

Osasuna look to keep their unbeaten start to the 2024-25 La Liga season going as Real Betis head to Estadio El Sadar on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts have a total of 15 points from their nine games so far, enough to sit fifth in the La Liga table. Real Betis sit 10th with 12 points from their opening nine games.

Full Preview:

Osasuna have been one of the most entertaining sides this season, as they have scored 13 goals and leaked 14 so far. The team has won four games, drawn three, and lost two; therefore, they are fifth with 15 points. Vicente Moreno’s men are undefeated in the last four games in La Liga, in which they secured eight points. Notably, they beat Barcelona 4-2 in the last home match.

Osasuna boast the second-best home record this season in La Liga with 13 points from five matches, while Real Madrid lead the pack with 15. That respectable beginning doesn’t provide them nearly enough security as they usually struggle against Real Betis. Osasuna have only won one of their last 12 La Liga games against Betis, yet recent form has them two points behind third-placed Atletico Madrid.

Real Betis, meanwhile, have had a rather indifferent season to this point, with three wins, three draws, and three defeats from nine matches, which has them 10th in the table with 12 points. Manuel Pellegrini’s side has been very good defensively, having let in only eight goals, which is the joint-fourth best defensive record in the league. Their offense, though, has struggled, netting just eight goals.

Heading into the international break in October, Real Betis lost successive matches by 1-0 margins-to Legia Warsaw in the Conference League and then to Sevilla in the Seville derby. On top of that, Betis have won just one of their last five games in all formats and are yet to claim a La Liga win on the road this term.

Despite their recent struggles, Betis can take confidence from their strong head-to-head record against Osasuna, having won eight of their last nine meetings in Spain’s top division.

Team News:

Osasuna will be without Iker Munoz and Kike Barja due to injuries but otherwise Vicente Moreno’s squad is in good shape for the match. Moreno will not change anything from the team that drew against Getafe, and Budimir once again spearheads the attack after finding his fourth league goal of the season last game out. Bryan Zaragoza starts on the left in return for his strong recent form while Ruben Garcia will get a nod on the right-hand side.

Meanwhile, Real Betis must do without the injured Marc Roca, Natan, William Carvalho, and Isco, while Giovani Lo Celso and Youssouf Sabaly are doubts. Aitor Ruibal and Sergi Altimira can start in the starting XI in the absence of Roca and Natan, while Vitor Roque leads the line despite the pressure from Cedric Bakambu. Lo Celso has netted five of Betis’ eight goals in La Liga so far this campaign and would prove a significant absence should he fail to pass a late fitness check.

Predicted Lineups:

Osasuna: Herrera; Areso, Catena, Boyomo, Bretones; Ibanez, Torro, Oroz; Ruben Garcia, Budimir, Zaragoza
Real Betis: Silva; Bellerin, Llorente, Ruibal, Rodriguez; Cardoso, Altimira; Fornals, Lo Celso, Ezzalzouli; Roque
